Study Music, Focus Music, and Playlists Built for Real Work

If you are searching for study music, focus music, or a coding playlist that actually keeps you locked in, you are in the right place. I am Bobby Lyte, the founder of Flow State Radio, and I built these playlists because I needed them myself. The goal is simple: steady energy, minimal distraction, and a path into deep focus that feels repeatable.

Why I built Flow State Radio

I am a DJ and software engineer, and during the pandemic I found myself drowning in tabs, notifications, and endless playlist hunting. I started making sprawling Spotify playlists to survive long coding sessions. Those playlists became a ritual: press play, remove distractions, and get into flow. Eventually I turned that ritual into Flow State Radio so anyone could access it.

Every playlist is hand-curated with tempo and texture in mind. If a track breaks focus or pulls your attention, it is out. If it helps you stay steady for an hour of study or a long stretch of deep work, it stays.

What makes these playlists different?

  • • Built for concentration: instrumental, steady energy, and no jarring vocals.
  • • Curated, not algorithmic: you avoid the random spikes that kill momentum.
  • • Updated often: daily or weekly refreshes keep your brain from tuning out.
  • • Designed for real workflows: study sessions, coding sprints, or deep writing.

Which playlist should I use?

Flow State Radio is organized around how you like to work. Pick the format that matches your rhythm, then hit play and let the playlist carry you.

Music Only

Pure study music and focus music with no breaks. Great for long writing sessions, reading, and deep work.

Music + Talk

A built-in pomodoro playlist with short, guided breaks every 30 or 60 minutes.

Music + Ambient

Pomodoro music plus nature sounds or binaural beats during breaks to reset your mind.

How to use study music for better focus

  1. 1. Choose a format. If you like long, uninterrupted flow, use Music Only. If you need structure, try a pomodoro playlist.
  2. 2. Commit to one session. Start with 30 to 60 minutes. Protect the time by silencing notifications.
  3. 3. Repeat the ritual. The playlist becomes a trigger for focus. Over time it is easier to drop into flow faster.
